Peace in the Storms

I do not like it when I get into an inner storm caused by fear. It’s easy to hide an inner storm, but long ago I made a commitment not to live by fear. Sometimes it’s hard to wrestle through to peace when waves of feelings are tossing me and wanting to crash me against the rocks–they seem much more real than the truth.

Fear debilitates.  It is one of the enemy’s destructive tools.  Sometimes we need another person to help us through the storm–the waves are too big. It can be hard to find help.

But God is faithful even when we are fearful, confused and scared.  He is the anchor that holds us in spite of the waves.  When I cling to Him and keep going to Him for what He wants me to know about this storm, the waters calm–sometimes immediately and sometimes a few days later.  There are things He wants  me to learn during the wait: He is there regardless of the circumstance; He will heal something if it is an old trigger;  There is something I need to turn over to Him; He will replace the fear with Himself–Peace.

This week I’ve been singing an old hymn that sums up the path to  Peace in the storms:  “Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face. And the things of Earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of His glory and grace.”

I love this post! I too find myself singing “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus”. It’s an old favorite of mine and brings peace!
